As defined in the dictionary, REFLECTION is serious thought or consideration. When you reflect on a subject/issue/decision, it takes time. Not only does it take time, it takes a lot of mental energy. Unfortunately not everyone invests their time in reflection. I really do see reflection as an investment of time, because it’s a growth opportunity. We can learn from every experience if we just take the time to analyze what we said or did.
Ask yourself, “was the outcome all you wanted it to be?” Then think about the reasons why or why not. Journal or take notes and follow up where you need to. This process gives you the chance to make adjustments the next time you are faced with a similar situation. Without reflection, many people continue to do the same thing they’ve always done, and continue to have the same negative outcomes.
So, if you’re in a rut or wondering why things just aren’t going your way, sit down and seriously consider your thoughts and behaviors. Reflect upon your day. The answer to making positive change in your life is likely hiding behind the doors of REFLECTION.
A few questions…
- Am I holding on to something I need to let go of? What?
- Am I letting matters that are out of my control stress me out? What?
- The words I’d like to live by are . . .
Growing word by word,
